BECO UK is the acronym for Berom Educational and Cultural Organisation. It is a sociocultural organisation for individuals who come from the Berom ethnic group which comprises the largest ethnic group of approximately one million people residing in Plateau State. Plateau occupies the North Central Region of Nigeria and the Beroms are the majority in three Local Government areas namely Jos North, Jos South and Barkin Ladi. The Beroms also migrated to Sanga in South Kaduna and this branch is largely Muslim as opposed to the Christian Berom of Plateau State.

The Beroms are a proud but gentle and accommodating race with a natural sense of humour and an inclination for music, science and art. Jos is famed for its altitude, cool climate and beautiful rock formations. Plateau prides itself as the home of tourism in Nigeria.

Beroms have adopted the stripes of maroon and green.  The maroon represents "ntiri" the earthy ochre pigment containing iron oxide mixed with clay that is applied to the body to beautify maidens and by the warriors "basuga".  Green represents the cactus plant used to secure the borders of Berom homesteads.
